Brikama (Kombo Central District)

Where:

Brikama is a large and busy town with a population of over sixty thousand about 30km south of Banjul.  It is the local transport hub for the south bank, and is the seat of Brikama Area Council, which is largest council in the country, and is responsible for over a quarter of the nation's population.

What:

WEC established 'Hands on Care' in Brikama, a ministry to meet the medical and spiritual needs of the chronically ill (including HIV/AIDS and TB) of the Brikama area.  The work was subsequently handed over to a local NGO, and now WEC continues as a Board member of the  project.
