What: We want to provide literacy programmes in order to fight illiteracy, ignorance and poverty. We want to enable people to apply literacy skills in their daily activities.
Where: Our literacy work is located mainly at Fajara with a Literacy Centre targeting the main language groups (Mandinka, Wolof, Fula and Jola), and Mandinka Literacy producing materials in the Mandinka language. Up country, in Sibanor, we have our Jola Literacy centre where various Jola productions are prepared. We plan to extend our programme to include the production of materials in the Wolof and Fula languages. Literacy classes are established throughout the country, but generally in the vicinity of our existing stations.
